FOOLS BLISS

ORIGINAL POST WAS MADE ON Seehersmilingstyling.com

My April Fools was full of adventure and just pure bliss. The day started me with finally getting to sleep in on a Friday morning. I had NO work,NO school ,NO nothing. It was amazing and to make it all the better I was in the city on a beautiful day.I'm talking skipping down the street ,waving to strangers kind of beautiful kind of day. Oh did I mention I had just gotten paid ,so you know I was on cloud nine. When I’m in the city especially I love to try new things so one of the things I had been really wanting to wear was this new Theory men’s shirt I had picked up and this structured, vintage Hilfiger denim jacket I had gotten from a pretty cool thrift store. Of course, this was when I was planning on wearing this when New York weather was to be a little chilly...of course it wasn’t ,but it wasn't that bad. I simply created a quick fix by tying it around my waist.
I was going for a Canadian tux with the double denim ,but with very androgynous vibes. The look can be masculine yet feminine at the same time. In all honesty, most of the pieces are men’s clothing yet with me tying the top, wearing the jeans highland the statement necklace it gave me a slightly feminine look. To be a New Yorker you know something that I've learned in the few months of living is you have to invest in a pair of shoes that are comfortable to walk all over the city in and be just right for the outfit that you’re wearing. Lucky for me I realized this quick and I had just the shoes to go with my outfit. These light tan pair of Bear Paw ankle boots that were perfect for this down-played masculine look that i was going for. These shoes were exactly what I was talking about earlier, comfort and just perfect for the outfit I had on.
Bike ride around Brooklyn , taking some cool pictures by some beautiful graffiti, and eating some amazing food that exactly the course of a pretty amazing day. Now that we have talked about the good fashionable bits, lets talk about the yummy bits. The food. The food was amazing at black tap. Something you guys should know about me is that I am an absolute foodie. I'm talking stays up to watch the Food Network for hours at end because I love to torture myself with delicious food that I have no access to. Ever since moving to New York it’s been a personal goal of mine to try as many different food places as possible. One of those places was the Black Tap, I had seen about it on one of those shows that talk about the hot new cool restaurants to watch, I immediately jumped at the chance to check it out and what better time then on a beautiful day where I have money to blow.
Try not to tap out, at finishing your massive milkshake at Black Tap that is. Now what I knew is that the black tap didn’t open until 4pm and yes I knew there was going to be a little wait, what i didn’t know was that we would be waiting for about an hour and a half. Apparently the location we were at, in Chelsea, was better than the original, the one in SoHo because the wait there is 3 hours. So in a way we lucked out but man were my feet hurting and thankfully  I was smart and brought an umbrella too because then it got dark and scary quick and started to rain.
Long story short we finally get in to eat and boy can I say it was well worth the wait. We both got some burgers, and then of course a milkshake, Black Taps, main attraction. However, not what you think though we didn't get that main milkshakes because we are two tiny females who had already ordered, burgers fries and wings… a big shake for 15$ alone wasn’t going to be finished. I would definitely recommend if you’re going to get the gigantic shake only get something light but if you still want a burger and fries then go for the smaller size shake that is just as delicious. So if I could recommend something to do on a beautiful day in New York then go bike riding , explore someplace new and eat good food like Black Tap.
Until next time don’t forget to smile,

NEW YORK MENS FASHION WEEK F/W17 Experience

ORIGINAL POSTED ON MARCH 30th,2016 ON Seehersmilingstyling.com

I know this is very late for my experience but so much has happened after the month of February that I am finally now getting the chance to sit down and write about my experience at New York Men's Fall Fashion Week. First off how I even got the chance to attend was from a friend of mine,Jay, whom I had met at Teen Vogue's Fashion University last spring had invited me to the Concept Korea show.
Me and Jay had been communicating because he knew that I had recently moved to New York, and he had made it known to me that him and a friend were coming to New York for Men’s Fashion Week. That weekend before the start of Fashion week he messaged me and asked if I wanted to go. OF COURSE! So after about a 2-hour 80s Inspired movie dress up session,I  had finally picked out the right outfit ,planned my travel, and knew when and where I was to meet them,Jay and Douglas, for the show.
Now mind you this was my first big, official fashion show I had ever been too, so I didn’t have a clue what to expect. What I experienced was literally life changing and irreplaceable in my book. For me I was somewhere that i have always dreamed about ,so in that literal sense I was living out my dream. Which is pretty awesome for someone who had only been in New York for about 3 weeks.
Long story short the show and day went from amazing to even better because after we attended that show we received word about Public School giving away tickets to their fashion show the next day. From that moment we proceeded to wait in line for said tickets for about 5 hours, however in those five hours I met some pretty amazing people whom I’ve become pretty good friends with In such a short time ( Shout out to Ivan,Ian,and Hasani). That waiting in line spurred me going to several shows the entire week and just having the best week ever. I’m not going to lie I was star struck on several occasions but like professional that I am I masked it well.
All in all it was a pretty amazing experience I wouldn't trade it for the world. I got to do pretty much everything I dreamed about doing since moving to New York.
I am planning on leaving some helpful tips to survive and make the best of Fashion week whether it be men’s or women’s, so make sure to read those if you’re thinking about traveling to attend fashion week or if you are a newbie to fashion week like I was!
Until next time don’t forget to smile,

BLOGGER IS GOING AWAY BUT IM HERE TO STAY!

Stop right there and look no further. You’ve stumbled upon something that will change your life, well, at least, I hope it will. I’m sure you’re wondering as to how this one simple article will change your life so I guess I will kill the anticipation and just begin. My name is Keirra Webster, yes Webster like the dictionary, and I am from Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. I’m sure most people think we are just a bunch of cowboys and Indians, but to that I say “watch a Thunder game!.”
Anyways, I’m an 18-year-old who just finished her first semester of college at the University of Central Oklahoma, but after a lot of hard thinking, I decided that New York was the place for me to be. I was originally accepted for the fall semester at Pace University, but I deferred thinking I was so not ready. Which, in all honesty, I was not; however, throughout this past semester I realized that if fashion journalism/styling is what I want to do then I had to spread my wings and fly the coop. I am in the process of doing this as we speak (or you read), but enough about my ever changing life lets get to the fashionable bits.
For me, fashion is something that when I was so unsure of who I was it gave me an outlet to be whoever, whenever and that’s how I would consider my personal style. My style is a combination of simply everything whether that be grunge, preppy, boho-chic, simplistic, tomboy-chic etc. It is solely based on the mood that I am in when I wake up.
In this particular outfit, I went with a more simplistic look with a touch of edge to give it just a tad bit more pizazz (fun word to use). I love the little effort it takes when getting ready in the morning, to just throw on some fitted skinny jeans, a basic tee, a bold jacket and some comfy but bold boots, and that’s simply all it takes to create an effortlessly chic look. These specific skinny jeans are my absolute favorite because they not only are fitted so they feel like a second skin, but they still are able to move around with you on the off chance you have to bust a split. The basic white shirt is a shirt you could find anywhere for less than ten dollars which is perfect for that college student living on a budget. Of course we can’t forget the main course, the ultimate staple piece, the silver studded jacket. It took any simple look, as such, to the next level. However, as much as the jacket brought the look to ultimate peaks, the shoes rounded it out. I finished my look by accessorizing with some simple jewelry, one long gold necklace, a few midi rings and long earrings.
